Good digestion starts with the help of enzymes to break down food to release its nutritional value. Digestive Enzyme Plus supports the digestive system’s ability to break down proteins, fats, carbohydrates, plant matter and lactose. ‡Each capsule provides a bespoke blend of seven key digestive enzymes, including lactase enzyme which improves lactose digestion in individuals who have difficulty digesting lactose (milk sugar found in dairy products). Calcium is included as it contributes to the normal function of digestive enzymes, with Betaine Hydrochloride to help increase stomach acid further aiding the digestion process and also containing Ginger Root Extract. Naturally sourced enzymes like Papain and Bromelain which are derived from papaya and pineapple respectively have also been included to aid the digestion of Proteins.

Why take a digestive enzyme supplement?
Good digestion requires an adequate number of digestive enzymes to break down all the various foods we consume, into absorbable compounds. The natural production of digestive enzymes declines with age and when the body is under stress. It can therefore be beneficial to take a supplement to complement the body’s declining natural ability.
How does it work?
Each capsule provides a bespoke blend of seven key digestive enzymes: Protease, Amylase, Lipase, plus naturally sourced Papain, Bromelain and Cellulase. Protease, Amylase and Lipase are naturally produced in the body that helps break down the major macronutrients
proteins, carbohydrates and fats, respectively.
Some enzymes break down specific components of food, such as Lactase which breaks down lactose, and Cellulase which breaks down cellulose in plants. Some foods also contain naturally occurring enzymes, for example, papaya contains Papain and pineapple contains Bromelain, which both help to further break down proteins.
The supplement is enriched with Calcium to help digestive enzymes work as they should, and premium high strength Ginger Root concentrate, which is widely known to care for your digestion.
The acidity of the stomach is also important for digestive health, which is why we have included Betaine Hydrochloride. Betaine Hydrochloride is an acidic compound and can lower the pH of aqueous solutions, also providing more stomach acid to help break down food.
